What is MediMundi?
MediMundi is the world's largest directory of doctors around the world that offer medical and dental to international patients. These doctors have tailored their practice to cater to the needs of patients coming from other countries, such as the United States. MediMundi is a place where you can find doctors and dentists that specialize in the medical or procedure you need to have done and explore your options.
MediMundi is also a place where you can connect with other people who have had, or are about to have, the same procedure done that you are considering. So it's a great way to connect with other patients and share experiences.
Why would I consider going abroad for medical care?
There are a lot of doctors around the world that can do elective surgery for 1/3 to 1/10th of the cost of having that same procedure done in the United States. Many of these doctors have been trained in the US or Europe and have years of experience doing these procedures and conform to international standards of quality. If you do not have health insurance and are facing the prospect of large medical bills, then going to a doctor outside of the United States is an option to consider.
MediMundi gives you the information you need to consider all of your options.
How much does it cost to use this site?
Nothing, it's free. You can create a profile, browse for doctors and contact doctors through MediMundi and it's all free.
I won't be charged to use certain features once I become a member?
No. As a patient, you can use every feature on our site for free.
Do I have to create a profile to use the site?
No, but it's a good idea. You can browse for doctors without a profile and in some cases (if their contact info is public) even contact them. But in most cases, you need to setup a profile to send and receive messages to doctors and to fully take advantage of everything the site has to offer.
Setting up a profile is free and only takes 5-10 minutes. If you have a profile on this site you might be contacted by doctors or other patients who have had the same procedure done, so you'll get a lot more feedback this way.
But I'm worried about my privacy. I don't want all my medical details on the Internet for anyone to see.
The profile can be as anonymous as you want it to be. For example, don't use your real name on the profile and use an external email address that doesn't have any identifying information. On the other hand, the more details you do provide, the easier it will be for prospective doctors who can help you with your specific medical needs to find you. There is a Privacy Filter you can turn on so that the details of your profile are not public. Only users you add to your Contact List will be able to see your full profile.
If you use common sense and retain a level of anonymity, there is quite a bit to gain from joining the MediMundi community.
Are you affiliated with any of the doctors on this site?
No. Our aim is for MediMundi to be impartial and to have as wide of a selection of doctors and healthcare providers on this site as possible. Therefore, we do not have any special arrangements with any doctors.
Some doctors pay for a premium membership in order to have expanded features (such as listing their public contact info) and to show up at the top of search results. Any doctor can get a premium membership. Doctors who do get a premium membership are clearly identified as such.
Do you make any money if I get medical care from one of the doctors on your site?
No. We do not benefit in any way.
Do I have to make travel arrangements through you?
No. Our mission at MediMundi is to empower you as the patient. The purpose of this site is to give you as much information as possible about healthcare providers around the world so that you are free to make your own choice. Some doctors may offer to help you with travel options, but it is up to you to weigh the alternatives and decide what's best for you.
Other Medical Tourism companies have made arrangements with a small selection of doctors. They are basically acting like travel agents and make a commission from the doctor if they book you for the medical procedure. Therefore, they may not always have your best interests at heart.
That is not what MediMundi is all about. We do not have a preference for which doctor you go to for medical care and we do not make any money if you decide to travel abroad for medical care. Our mission is to provide you, the patient, with as many alternatives as possible and to give you as much information as we can for you to make the decision that's best for you.
How do I know that this is safe? How do I know if I can trust a particular doctor?
As with any major medical decision, you need to do your homework. The vast majority of the doctors listed on this site are legitimate doctors that have been in medical practice for years and have a lot of happy patients. However, you should always be careful on the Internet. Some profiles may have inaccurate information.
Look for the doctors that have complete profiles. A lot of care has gone into the design of this site. Doctors that fill out their profile fully and honestly will give you a lot of information to help you with your decision. The more information on their profile, the more confidence you can have that they are legitimate. Be sure you contact the doctors yourself. While we strive to make sure the information on this site is accurate, you should always do your own research as well. Finally, you should always get a second opinion. Contact other patients that have used this doctor in the past and talk to them about their experience. Be wary of doctors who cannot provide you with reference. Finally, be sure to check with your own physician for advice before making any big decisions.
I see that some patients have profiles on this site even though they are not looking to have a procedure done. If I've already had my procedure done, why would I want to create a profile on this site?
Some patients who have gone through the process of searching for a doctor abroad and traveling to another country to receive medical care want to help other people who are facing the same decisions. In a lot of cases, patients have had such a positive experience that they want to share it with others.
Facing the prospect of major surgery that could be very expensive and bankrupt a family can be very difficult. Some people who have been through this decision feel a certain solidarity with other patients currently going through the process and want to make themselves available as a resource to answer questions and be helpful in other ways.
If you have traveled abroad for medical care, please consider creating a profile on this site and sharing your experience. There may be someone out there who needs to hear what you have to say.

There are thousands of patients around the world looking for doctors like you that specialize in offering medical care to international patients. MediMundi is a very easy and inexpensive way to have these patients find you and learn about the medical services you offer.
How much does it cost to join MediMundi?
You can create a profile on this site for free. Creating a profile means that patients can find you and you can contact patients. So creating a profile will let you do all of the essential features you need to promote your medical practice.
If a patient finds my medical practice through this site, do I have to pay a commission?
No. You are free to make any arrangements you want with prospective patients. We will not be involved nor will we expect any commission.
I have already made arrangements with another company in the US or Canada to represent my medical practice. Can I still setup a profile on your site?
Yes. MediMundi is an impartial directory open to all doctors and healthcare providers. It does not matter if you are listed on other sites or represented by other companies.
Do I have to fill out every field on my profile?
No. There are a few required fields that you must fill out to register your profile. These are very basic fields and take less than 5 minutes to complete. However, the more information you provide about yourself and your medical practice, the more likely prospective patients are to contact you.
What can I do to attract more patients to my profile?
Fill in as much of your profile as you can. Patients are not sure that they can trust doctors in other countries and are more comfortable getting medical care close to home. The way you overcome this hurdle is by providing as much information as possible about your education and training, your current medical practice and your facilities. The best way to build credibility is to get former patients to create profiles on this site and have them serve as references.
Remember that once you create a profile and register as a MediMundi user you can go back and edit it and add to it. You will find that the more you put into your profile the more you will get out of this site. Note: under no circumstances should you post false or misleading information. Prospective patients will contact other patients and if word gets out that your profile contains inaccuracies your reputation will be ruined.
